"This is a Paddle"

"This is a football." These words were spoken by Vince Lombardi. He was one of the most famous football coaches in history. He said these words to veteran players and rookies alike. He always started with the basics first and moved to the more complicated dynamics of the game. This was a winning strategy for him and I think the same principle applies to my experience with canoeing.

"This is a Paddle" is as basic as it gets. It is what I need because I'm nowhere near being an expert canoeist. I recently learned that a paddle has a grip, shaft, throat, blade, and tip [see picture below and each item listen goes from left to right] Five elements of one tool converge to move canoeists to their destination.
